2025 Annual Meeting of the members
Note: Time, Date and Location are redacted for security reasons. Please contact us for this information.
Greetings. The Annual Meeting of the Silver Spurs POA membership is approaching fast. Notifications were prepared and mailed out by our Secretary, Wendy Kumbier, on Aug 2nd 2025 so everyone should be receiving them shortly. The USPS has been slow lately so be patient.
For now, we wanted to highlight the following areas:
Bylaws Update
Previously, the board sent out a request for members who would be interested in participating in a Bylaws Update Committee. Conflicts between our existing governing documents and the requirement of a 5-year review of the bylaws made this task necessary. Only two members of our community, Tracey Lodato and Larry Schumacher, stepped up. Together they crafted a phenomenal product representing our community’s interests in terms of transparency and procedural clarity. As a testament to their hard work, the bylaws update easily passed the legal scrutiny of our HOA/POA attorney. This bylaws draft is located on the POA website in the Documents Section. Printed copies are available upon request. We suggest you review the bylaws prior to the vote taking place at the annual meeting.
Opening Board Member Positions
At the meeting, two board member officer positions will need to be voted in by the members. We have a great team currently but urgently need these positions filled. Specifically, we need a Board Member Treasurer and Board Member Secretary elected. Rebecca Pitts took over as Treasurer and was subsequently appointed by the board to replace Wes Wilson when he resigned. She has performed amazingly well. We’re now fortunate in her decision to run for Board Member Treasurer for a full 3-year term. At the meeting you will learn of all her accomplishments that have directly benefited your POA. Wendy Kumbier also ”saved the day” at a point when the possibility existed that we’d be without a secretary. While working at her full-time career, she contributed much of her free time for the betterment of the community. The POA cannot function without these two positions. A well-functioning POA is critical to our way of life. The POA affects our livelihood in terms of our safety for first responders to gain emergency access to the ranch, our safety on the roads and ease of travel on and off the ranch, and the protection of our property values. Like it or not, it is a form of government we all signed on to when purchasing our properties. While it offers no pay, stepping up to an elected board member position as a Board Member Secretary is not just volunteerism, it’s a responsibility to your community (reimbursement for certain expenses is authorized). Please contact me or another member of the current board if you’d like to know more about either of these positions.
Annual Meeting Venue
This year your board has decided to try something different based on member feedback and experiences learned from previous Annual Meeting events. Both the Meeting of the Members and the following social event will be hosted from within our local community. Our outgoing Vice President, Duane Freeman, has taken the lead on this and based on his successes in previous community-building events, this should prove to be a great success.
Your POA Board is looking forward to the events and we hope you are too. As always, let us know if you have any questions or comments through the website or any of our board members. Joseph Lodato, current POA President, can be reached at (719-270-1019).
